Run-o-Meter
There are many sites that offer to maintain your running statistics. The Run-O-Meter site has the most Zen artistic layout to my eye.
DTW
To avoid that stuck in a hotel room feeling one has only to step outside – even in Romulus, MI. This little circuit is level concrete blvd. with very light vehicular traffic. Clearing the hotel strip opens up countryside and corn fields. One lap equals 2.9 miles.
PBI
Last run for the year… 7.4 miles of concrete. Once you cross over the ICW into Palm Beach, heavy traffic subsides. See the beach! A detour for take-out at the La Salsa in the City Place gives pause. Try not to drip sweat on the salsa bar.
DAL
The Bachman Lake Greenbelt is a 3.9 mile loop located on the northern boundary of Dallas Love Field. It offers some good plane watching and photo vantage as it lies just beneath the departure / arrival corridor. It is asphalt paved but with short cropped Bermuda Grass alongside. The surrounding park features Latino ethnicity on the weekends.

With the Cover View feature on the new iTunes 7 release, I was motivated to catalog my misc music files. Improperly tagged files will not pull the album art. Correct file name standardization helps but also one must be sure that the meta data gybes. I discovered several utilities that assist. Picard and Magic MP3 Tagger allow manual edits as well as semi-automated meta data searches. You start with various clues such as artist, album and track names. Example: INKARI – Mi Raza – Music Of The Andes – Vol 3 – Surupana (Yaravi-Sikuri) Peru D.R.A3.mp3 A Google keyword search led to a latin music site Google Translate aided. Surprisingly, Amazon.com has a rather extensive music database. Other online db tools are freedb.org and the excellent MusicBrainz.org The rewritten file name, after the detective work and head scratching, uses the Artist – Album – Track Number – Song Title convention and reads thus: Inkari – Miraza – 10 – Surupana (YaraviSikuri).mp3 The preceding was a tough nut. If your taste runs toward the more popular it’s an easier task.
Winterization Check List
It was a pleasant Fall Wx like – end of season – sail on the lake. B.O.U.R.Girl dipped her toe into the water and proclaimed Burrrrrr. After making a final waterski pass for our 7th summer season, we brought the boat home and prepared for storage/hibernation.

RDU
The American Tobacco Trail connector between Wake and Chatham counties has not been officially opened but I decided not to wait and gave it a preview on my bike. At N35.828 W-78.929 I came to muddy – Panther Creek. It was swollen from T.S. Ernesto on the week before. Old train trestles remain but sans tracks and there wasn’t a way to cross without fording the gap. Observing a Black Rat Snake escaping through the tall grass further convinced me that a 180 was the natural thing.

The Cayman S is somewhat reminiscent of early 911 with the delightful light responsive handling in front and wonderful mechanical sounds from the rear (mid) engine layout. Not raw or brutish but very civilized, insulated and well balanced. A very fast GT with adequate power that can exceed any posted limits in the time it takes you to glance down and measure. The salesman ‘fessed that he’d been cited. Lucky not to get arrested in this car but dare I say that another 50 horses and more loudness would be perfection. The list price on this gentlemanly ride would buy (new) His ‘n’ Hers S2000 sportcars with change left over for a cruise ship holiday. Double the pleasure.

I joined the West Loop Trail from Long St. in downtown Columbus. From there I turned south for Lower Scioto Park. The river offers some natural scenery contrasting with skyscraper buildings and the roar of traffic. The multi-use path is 2.2 miles of concrete and pavement. At the end of the return run, a worth while stop is North Market.
