Spencer’s Questions Of The Day

Questions Of The Day 11/5/03

If bunnies don’t lay eggs why is it on Easter that we recieve eggs from the Easter Bunny?

If you’re caught “between a rock and a hard place”, is the rock not hard?

Where did hamsters live before we put them in cages as a pet?

Why do they put “for indoor or outdoor use only” on christmas lights?

Why do toasters always have a setting that burns the toast to a horrible crisp which no decent human being would eat?

Off To The Windy City

Well one more day until we go to The Windy City (Chicago). I’m afriad this is my last blog until I get back on thursday if there is not a computer open. Our flight to Chicago is at 7:00 PM so it’s going to be a long day to wait on monday.

Check out my game sectoin on the left. On space invaders it’s not your computer, it’s just really slow.

Long time no blog

Sorry there’s been a shortage of blogs. I will now have them up on most days. Well let me bring you back into the world. Here’s what happened last week:

It most have been atleast the last tuesday when the Stanley Cup came to the Cary Towne Center. Of course i couldn’t give up the option of standing in line for 40 minutes to get my picture taken with it. And I even got to touch it. I figure that it was as close to North Carolina then it will ever be because The Hurricanes don’t have a chance of winning against Detriot or Colorado.

The Hurricanes game was on monday at 7:00. My neighbor’s dad took all of the boys to what he thought would be a showing of the game on the big jumbo plex screen at the ESA since it was in Canada. So we go to the ESA only to wait in a big line of cars. This would have normal for a game but just a showing of the game? And there was no one with Canes shirts or Canes flags.
We thought it was free until we saw tickets in other peoples hands. We went over to the guy at the ticket both and asked him “Does this thing cost any money and do we need tickets?”. They guy looks at us like we’re crazy. We later found out that the game was actualy at the Ritz not the ESA. We still wondered what was so big that happened there. Three words “Stars On Ice” . We all still wanted to watch the game some where other than just at home so we got in the car and ended up watching the game in the Back 9 Pub. The whole place smelled like smoke. It was odd having one adult, five teenage boys, and two girls from the first grade and Kindergarten. The two girls were my friends little sisters that tagged along. so we grabbed some pepsi’s and sat and watched most of the game. We got home and I was smelling realy bad from the smoke. I was afriad that my mom would think the wrong thing since she thought we were going to the ESA.

Well thats about the highlights of what I have not wrote in the past week. I just got out of school for the summer. My family are planning to go to Chicago on Monday so don’t expect to see anything in those three days. I’ll have them up after i get back. I’m also going to visit my family in Phoenix. I’m sure I can get on a computer there.

An Obstruction

If you arrive at school before th 8:00 bell than the 7th graders must wait in the auditorium. So I went to the auditoruim and started talking to my friends in front of the fire exit. No sooner than I do this the drama teacher comes over to me and says ‘Sir, you cannot stand there. Your an obstruction to the fire exit. What would happen if there was a fire and you were blocking the way?’ What would happen! I would no longer be an ‘obstruction’…I would be the first out the door!

Goodbye ‘EGOs’

Today was the last day of the ‘EOGs’. i’m glad it’s over. Now our teachers won’t be so up tight about us getting a good score. I can now write about something other than the ‘EOGs’. I don’t know why they have a reading section in the test. I don’t know when we are to ever use this in real life.

Over concerned teachers

Why are teachers over concerend about tests. They tell you the stupidest stuff you could possibly dream of. Heres an example, Mr. Hampton my math teacher comes into my homeroom right before we continue with our ‘EOGs’. He says ‘class i just want you to remember that you make sure you fill in the bubbles after you have found the answer’. NO DIP CAPTIAN OBVIOUS! we’ve been taking these tests for about 5 years now! i think we can handle it.

Well because of our ‘EOGs’ our schedule is pretty messed up. We have lunch right after the 6th graders. usualy they let the 6th grade lunch out early so they don’t ‘incounter’ us in the hall. well today they kinda forgot to do that. can you say traffic jam. i was 8 feet away from the cafiteria but of course because of all 3 grades in the hall at the same time it took a little longer… about 8 minutes longer. 8 minutes to walk five feet!!!

Testing

There’s testing, testing and more testing. Everyday in school (I’m in 7th) for the next three days we have testing. It’s the End of Grades. It’s funny though, the teachers seem to be more worried about it than the students. I guess it’s more of their butts on the line than ours. I’ve always wondered what it would be like to have someones career in my hands. What ever happened to the good old days when you would only pass a grade if your made good marks on your report card grades. Of course that was over five years ago in the 2nd grade. I always thought that ‘EOGs’ sounded kinda corny. I can’t wait until i’m in high school when i can call them ‘Exams’.
