humiliation and embarrassment

stuck in the mud

Not that I can claim never to have got-stuck-in-the-mud — what we have is a lapse in driver SA (situational awareness)when said driver tried a short cut out of the parking spot. With some fairness, it was less than ideal parking lot design with the curb and planter anchored on the right side and not visible when entering or exiting the vehicle. After a cell call plea, I arrived with a floor jack and some 2 x 4 boards and was able to extricate this mess. Tell tale mud tracks leading out of the trap showed that ours wasn’t the first or only car to land into the pit. I left the wood pieces for the next poor fellow. Fortunately, there was no physical damage or animals harmed during the creation of this blog. Only mental anguish and some hand wringing and a lesson learned. Okay kids, let’s be careful out there.

  1. In the, excuse me, I can top this department, when I took Mom’s first Audi to college for a semester, I went to see a dr. for a check-up. So nervous was I leaving, I put the car into drive and ran right over the cement bar thingie that stops a car. Broke a motor mount and it took six weeks for them to order one in as an Audi was a very new import to the U.S. at that time. Poor little thing sat at the local VW dealership in Peoria, IL all that time waiting for a new motor mount. Humiliated was a good adjective for me but hey, who hasn’t done something? Mud washes off. Ain’t no biggie, sweetie, just dirty.

  2. WAIT!!! I can top THAT one! Two years ago, they were digging up our old street and made me turn around. I told the workers I lived just up the street and I was almost home but no, they said turn around. I was so mad, I swung my 2000 Jag S 4.0 into Mark K’s driveway and missed seeing they had sliced a two foot chunk out of it. BANG! The entire back end of the Jag hit the cement. Fortunately, there was enough dirt under the tires that I gunned my way outa there but if you looked, you could see the entire back under the trunk was scratched unbelievably. Never told B…..that would have been really bad judgement on top of really bad judgement.
