big clue

This may be an elaborate ‘send the paparazzi on a wild decoy chase’ but on the other hand you can’t pick a new airline name without first insuring that the domain name is available for your website. This is where the tickets will be sold. No minor detail. Let’s hope that Mr. or Mrs. America can spell it! independanceair.com

dryer

The new one was delivered this afternoon. The old appliance, after 24 years, was still good — except for the rocking kick required to restore it to life when it would overheat and auto shutdown. Two big delivery guys balanced the machine between them on a 2 1/2 inch woven strap. Stairs? No object. I asked, how many deliverys do they make in a days work and was told up to 20. That’s only because of the limited light in a day but I think they must get wore out first.

howdy pilgrim — lawhaw

The Captain’s PA’s got my attention. You judge the maturity, professionalism, and quality of the crew based on these snippets of speech and his announcement was a looooong John Wayne western cowboy whiskey drawl. “Hope your enjoyin’ the fast ride to Raleigh” Is he sober? Remember Foster Brooks? I looked up from my Smithsonian Magazine to the Flight Attendant for assurance expecting to see a sneer on her face. (the FA, if having flown with such a character for any length, has heard such jokes and schtick so many time that you can read the pain in their expression) But they were serving without so much as a grimace. “The seat belt sign is off now… but keep your belt fastened — just in case — anyway –.” I realized that this was his actual style and not an impersonation. I returned to my reading amused and feeling safe(r).

trap

This is an image capture of an email from my inbox. Raised a big red flag. The tip-off is that they ask for personal information bank acct, credit card, password. It’s fraud. The message source reveals a villain:

This domain address is probably offshore and difficult to shut down, let alone prosecute. By now the crooks have vanished but I’m figuring that there may have been a few poor suckers — victimized.

blink

On Oct. 24, United’s Finance Chief, Jake Brace, had said the carrier hoped to have a contract signed with Mesa “as soon as possible…in days not weeks!”

Thirteen days after the comment, there’s still no deal. The outcome of a Mesa/UAL deal is Mesa’s Ace-in the-hole card. What would the effect be on ACAI share prices if Mesa/UAL were to announce an IAD deal? vs. What will be the effect on ACAI shares when ACA/Independence makes the new brand ‘grand rollout and aircraft order’? If you were Mesa/UAL would you want to be preemptive by having the first word (stealing ACA’s thunder so to speak) or would it be beneficial to minimize (throw water on) ACA’s media honeymoon. There must be some strategy as to who makes the first move.

The one with the highest stock price wins!

.:Stand-by for the first move:.
